Should There Be Free Cell Phone Directories?:
This subject has proved to be a bit of a sore point for many people; some people are all for a free cell phone lookup service; while others are dead set against it. Where do you stand though? Whatever your standing on this subject; the fact remains the same; there are no free cell phone directories; only the common directories for residential addresses and businesses. This is not looking likely to change at any time soon either; the US government has opposed it as well as many others.
All cell phones have a memory installed in them; when someone calls you; you can store their name and details within the phone. That is all well and good when you know who you are calling; what happens if you need to urgently get in touch with a co-worker or a family friend or a child's friend/parents. This is where the advantage of having a cell phone directory would come in handy for many people.
Having a cell phone directory would save all the hassle of making a reverse cell phone number search; all you would have to do would be to look in the directory and find exactly who is calling you and where they are from. This could also help combat nuisance and unwated sales calls; you will know who they are and where they live; so you would think that they wouldn't continue making nuisance phone calls.
The reason why people oppose the cell phone directories is purely because they believe it would be an invasion on their privacy. They do not want all and sundry to have access to their name, cell phone number and address. Their main fear is that all the marketing companies will be able to buy the cell phone directory and then all the information is passed to them. This is a valid concern; as we all know how easy it is for the marketing companies to get hold of your personal details; it would be just as easy to get hold of your cell phone details and also your address and name! This can be worrying especially as so many people use their cell phones for personal reasons or for business. It's nice knowing that the only people who have your number are the people that you gave it to. This wouldn't be the case should the cell phone directories be made public knowledge.
Maybe it's just better using traditional methods such as a reverse cell phone search, or ringing the number back!
